Solarization; is heating of the moist and not cultivated soil with the solar energy by covering over with the thin polyethylene film (Solarization film).
The aim of this application is to weaken or eliminate the disease factors, weeds and nematodes harmful to plants in the soil.
Nematodes generally live in the soil, water and in the decaying organic matters. Many kinds of them feed in different parts of the plants and they are harmful for them.
The plant parasitic nematodes are in 0,2mm – 5mm length and they are microscopic organisms. It is difficult and exhausting to detect them in the environment they are living. Therefore, less work has been done on these organisms comparing with the insects and animal pests.
Nematodes are generally colorless and transparent. They are moved with rain and irrigation waters, wing, infected plant debris, infected soil parts adhering to the feet of people and animals, soil-working tools, infected vegetable feedlings, fruit tillers, bulbous plants and plant seeds.
At the plants damaged from nematodes the other microorganisms causes of the diseases (bacterial, fungi and viruses) activities gets easy and generally another disease will be seen together with the damage of the nematodes.
Nematode Film: with the additive added into solarisation film
